Neue Knoblauchsaison 2024

New garlic season 2024

Our start to the new garlic season is so wet that we could soon harvest with a bot. Imagine what that would look like. But no joke: starting Monday, June 3rd, the first bulbs will finally be available in the form of fresh garlic. First, the early-ripening Garpek variety, and then Messidor.

So-called fresh garlic is young garlic whose cloves are not yet fully ripe. Therefore, the plant has not yet developed its full aroma and therefore has a milder flavor. However, it cannot be stored and must therefore be consumed quickly.

We begin harvesting our storage varieties in July. This year, we're adding Therador and Galina varieties, and we'll also be offering elephant garlic starting in September.

Dried garlic is stored garlic. To be storable, it must be fully ripe and, in our case, dried after harvesting in July. This results in a more intense flavor and aroma. This garlic also has the typical parchment-like skin over the cloves.
